The Birthday Party

This will be the last post about Emily's 2nd birthday, I promise...

Today we had a birthday party for Emily at our church. We really are blessed to be a part of a wonderful church family! Last year, we went a little crazy with the party, so we went very simple this year.

The party had a ladybug theme. Here is the cake that I made:

The birthday girl herself. We did some coloring and then decorated cupcakes:
This little guy had no time for decorating, he just ate the cupcake (perhaps all in one bite):
Singing Happy Birthday overwhelmed Emily a little bit, but she did OK. The girls were excited to help blow out her candles.
Emily got to taste some frosting and ice cream (she made a few faces because the ice cream was cold, but seemed to enjoy it):
The girls were great helpers with opening presents:

All in all, it was a fun party. We enjoyed celebrating with our church family. Emily was pretty worn out when we got home. She had her lunch and went to bed.

I know I said in my last post that she was doing well, but, I may have jumped the gun a little. We have not seen any seizures, but she really isn't herself. I can't really describe it, other than to say she seems kind of blah. Like someone has muted her (not literally, but figuratively). Not sure if it is the new meds that she is taking or something else. We would appreciate your continued prayers for her and for us. We definitely feel ill-equipped to handle this kind of stuff, but we trust that God will give us the wisdom we need.

Glad Emily had a nice party!! Sorry we couldn't be there, but we seem to be a little germy still.

When the docs gave Aidan anti-seizure meds in the hospital, he became VERY the "lights were on, but no one was home" behavior. They said it would take about 2 weeks for it to regulate in his system.

Praying that she gets back to her normal, beautiful, giggly self soon!! Have a great weekend!!

I've not seen a cake decorated that way before - very cute!

You read a lot of the same blogs as I do, and I hope some of them are giving you encouragement/info on managing seizure meds.
