One More Thing

5 Minutes for Special Needs

Emily has one more orthotic to add to her collection. Mike calls it a "turtle shell" and you can see why from the picture. I believe the proper name is: Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral-Orthosis. Emily will wear this to prevent scoliosis. We are still trying to work out the details of when she will wear it and for how long, and how this will fit into her normal routine with all of the other stuff we already do with her. This is a picture of her trying it out for the first time.

And just for fun, I decided to throw in a picture of her with Dad's first try at pigtails. I think he did a pretty good job.

way to go Mike, you make all other father's look bad!! Was this shot before or after her haircut?

Good job, Mike! Joel doesn't like doing Ellie's hair. Her hair is the exact opposite of Emily's - straight as a board and thin. Which means you have to wrap the pony tails about 4 times to keep them in. Not the easiest thing to do with big hands. He tries but they never stay in for long. :)

Love the pigtails :) how sweet! Seems like you have heaps of great new equipment too :)
thanks for popping by my blog and I know that feeling too well of "normaility and wishing/hoping/dreaming" and yes Pep did just get up walk like that! I am still blown away by the ease of it and of course had a little pang of sadness, cried but am trying to enjoy HER rather than compare and contemplate :) loving your blog and following your journey too :)

That TLSO thingy sure is a mouthful, isn't it? I've not heard of one of those before. I bet it stinks to have to add yet another majigger to her list, but sure hoping it helps.

Emily, as always, is a doll! Pigtails are just darling!

Cute pictures! I am in awe that her outfit coordinates with her latest equipment and of the great pigtail job that Dad did!

I hope the TLSO works well for you.

My son has CP as well. He's 12 now. I saw your link on the Special Exposure post at 5 Minutes for special needs and popped over. :)

Miss Emily is such a trooper in having to try out all this new stuff! And Mike - great pigtails!! She is so adorable and, as I've said before, her smile is contagious! :o)

Love you all!

I think the piggie tails are adorable-my favorite hair-style for little ones! Her hair is growing so much, so beautiful.

I think all the 'stuff' that we are expected to squeeze into our kid's day is just ridiculous. I know most of it is very important, but there really isn't time. Ugh. I feel ya.

Love the piggies...daddy did good!
