Atlanta Pics

One of the main reasons we stopped in Atlanta (besides some family time) was to go to the zoo. We LOVE zoos and try to go whenever we get the chance. I was really excited because this zoo has Giant Pandas. Mike had the very smart idea to go right when the zoo opened. It was a little cooler and the crowds were much smaller. All in all, we thought the zoo was nice. It was very clean. We were in the shade most of the time. Our one complaint was that not all exhibits were (easily) accessible by stroller, or wheelchair for that matter. Not sure why you would put stairs at some exhibits when most families are there with kids in strollers anyway. That just didn't make a lot of sense to us.

We took a ton of pictures, but I will just share a few of them. If anyone is interested in seeing every kind of turtle or frog that exists, let me know and I will happily share those pictures.

This was Ty Patty's first trip to the zoo. Can you see him in this shot?

We had to get a shot of the Elephant because they are my favorite. It was funny to see them tinted red from the red dirt in Georgia.

We got to have a nice chat with the kangaroo trainer and learned a few things too. She brought one of the kangaroos over to the fence so we could get a good picture.

The zoo had the most amazing Orangutan exhibit I have ever seen. It had swings and tree houses and all kinds of neat stuff. None of our pictures really did it justice, but here is a mom and her baby:

The exhibit for gorillas was equally cool, but we didn't really get any good shots of it (there were actually multiple exhibits - one for bachelors, couples and then a family exhibit). The gorillas were really too far away or hidden pretty well.
Can you see how excited Emily was about being at the zoo?
OK, so these zoo trips are really more for us, but it is good for her to get some fresh air and to see some new sights.
A great shot of Mike and Ty. Maybe they have a chance at being on Meerkat Manor.

Ty's visit to the zoo wasn't all fun and games. It can be a scary place, ya know!

Luckily it was a fake lion and he recovered nicely. Here he is enjoying a quiet moment with his favorite girl.

Here is one of the few shots we took in the city of Atlanta (we spent so much time trying to figure out where we were and where we were going that we didn't take many pictures).

Emily liked sightseeing from the back seat.

She also managed to take a nap every once in a while (this was actually on our ride home from Atlanta BEFORE the car fiasco that we would rather not speak of).

I mentioned the Giant Pandas at the zoo, but didn't include any pictures because I wanted to share this video instead. The mom was just trying to eat in peace while her son kept trying to wrestle with her. He seems like quite a handful!

You guys are hilarious! who in the world is this Ty?! I think the panda bears down in Atlanta are more fun to watch than the ones in DC.
