This weekend, here in Kentucky, is our annual Crusade for Children fundraiser. At most major intersections all over the state there will be firemen and volunteers with their boots in hand ready to be filled with cash.
For the longest time I didn't know where this money was going, but now I do. Emily has several therapists that come on a regular basis to work with her and the physical therapist brings many toys for Emily (me really) to use. The Crusade for Children uses the money it receives to purchase equipment for children with special needs that can be borrowed at no cost to the parents. To give you an example...Emily has a special chair (see lower picture) that supports her head as well as her back. I was going to buy one of these chairs to bring to church so we didn't have to bring it back and forth. The price tag was $350! When I mentioned this to the physical therapist, she got us another one to keep at the church! Needless to say, this is a cause we want to support.
If you are traveling this weekend and come across a "boot in your face" at an intersection, kindly put some change in and know that you are helping someone you know and many more people that you don't know.

Emily thanks you for your support!
