It's a God thing!

Yesterday the physical therapist was working with Emily and asking me some questions. She started to get more personal than usual and asked me how we are dealing with Emily’s diagnosis. I replied that we have accepted that she will be limited, but there are things that are hard to take. As a dad, just the thought of never being able to dance with my daughter or even the probability of never walking her down the aisle is a great loss to me. We don’t know what the future holds, but the probability is great that these things will never be.

She mentioned to us that she can put us in touch with other families who are going through similar struggles and give us a support group. Not an hour later, the nutritionist called and asked if she could give our number to one of her clients who was dealing with something similar to what we were going through. She did not talk to the physical therapist! These were two separate events.

The women called later in the day and we talked for about half an hour and decided that we would get together on Saturday.

After the call, we ate dinner and went to church; our usual Wednesday routine. We are starting the book of Second Corinthians and we were discussing how Paul says:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Cor 1:3-4 (NASB)

The meaning behind this is that we are going to go through afflictions in our lives, and God is going to give us comfort through these afflictions. Why is He going to give us comfort? So that we can comfort others who are going through the same affliction!

Only God could have ordained the events of the day to happen exactly as they did. We are not only excited about meeting this couple on Saturday, we know that it was ordained by God and He will be glorified through it!

Pray for us as we meet with this couple on Saturday, that God would bond us together and that we would have the opportunity to speak of how we have been comforted through Him in these times of trial.

God is awesome and deserves all the glory!

I am so excited just to hear and see God working in your lives. You guys mean so much to me. I don't want you guys to get discouraged because God has a plan. It's hard for us to wait sometimes to see God's plan but God's plan may not be for us to see but for others to see in us. Just know God has a plan for you three and whatever it is he will be glorified in it. Love you all very much.
